Celebrating 50 years of service!!!

United Campus Ministries at Angelo State University celebrates its 50th anniversary on Saturday, Sept. 22, with celebrations for local college students, former students and the public.

Festivities for current Angelo State and Howard College students begin at 10 a.m. at the ASU Pavilion. There, students can register for games and receive meal tickets. Among the games will be a rope toss, corn hole, Swedish baseball, sand volleyball and horseshoes, along with face painting.

At 3 p.m. students will move to the UCM facility at 2453 Dena Drive, across the street from the ASU campus, for a meal of barbecued brisket, smoked corn, baked beans, potato salad, dessert and drinks. Former students and the public are also invited. While the meal is free, contributions to UCM will be accepted and appreciated.

To reserve a spot, visit the events tab on the United Campus Ministries Facebook page.

United Campus Ministries is a non-denominational, ecumenical ministry that serves ASU and Howard College students. Formed by the United Methodist Church, the Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Texas and First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), it was incorporated in 1968 as A.S.U. United Campus Ministries, Inc.

UCM’s largest current outreach program is a free weekly lunch that serves an average of 50 students. Led by chaplain/director the Rev. Gary Sanford, UCM is financially supported by local churches, denominational and secular agencies, and contributions from individuals and fundraising efforts.
